Sustainability

Kiwis love to fly. We also need to - New Zealand is an isolated country at the bottom of the world - trains or buses to other countries are simply not an option for connecting our people and products to the world.

The pandemic has had a huge impact on Air New Zealand, but it has not slowed our commitment to sustainability. If anything, it has demonstrated that air transport is vital to sustaining our local economies through tourism and trade, but it is critical we find a more sustainable way to do this.

Our Sustainability Framework helps guide our efforts in tackling some of New Zealand's and the world's most complex challenges.

You can find out more in our 2022 Sustainability Report and on our sustainability reporting and communication page.

Our Sustainability Framework is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 'blueprint' to create a better and more sustainable future for all.

Sustainability Advisory Panel

We have an internationally renowned group of external subject matter experts who meet twice a year to advise us on all aspects of our sustainability journey. Members of Air New Zealand's Executive team also participate in the Sustainability Advisory Panel meetings.
