Paparoa Track and Pike29 Memorial Track
This Great Walk crosses the Paparoa Range. It takes you through alpine tops, limestone karst landscapes and thriving rainforests, and provides breathtaking views. From the Paparoa Track, the Pike29 Memorial Track leads to the site of the former Pike River Mine.

- Traverse the Pororari River Gorge and marvel dramatic limestone cliffs, beech forest and glades of subtropical nīkau palms
- Bring your camera – the sunsets over the Tasman Sea from the Moonlight Tops Hut are definitely worth the 19.9km trek
- Discover the mining history of this region, including gold on the Croesus Track, coal in Pike Stream, and uranium prospecting in the Pororari River
- Marvel at the panoramic views from atop the towering escarpment in the Pike Basin
